Walking Day 13. Comillas to San Vicente de la Barquera

A short day 13.5km.
We got to sleep till 8:00 and didn't even go down for coffee and toast till 9:00. It was so nice to walk out into a bit of sunshine. Walking out of town as we had hoped we spotted the signs leading us to Gaudi's El Capricho.
And we spent at least an hour exploring the house that was built for a bachelor who died soon after the house was completed. It was finished in 1885.   The details are pure Gaudi, it was hard to leave.
I think I took a hundred pictures. (Kidding).

The walk was though the Nation Park which covers over 5,000 hector, mostly on small country roads. Very pleasant walk.
Some friends have asked why we do this and I was thinking about that today while walking.   How else can you take in so much of nature at a pace that you can really appreciate each little thing.  When Al says" hey look at those baby roses".   The smells of fresh cut grasses or the smell of bags of shrink wrapped fermented grass for the cows. Different trees and the many cool unusual animals types.   I mean I know a lot of different kinds of cows but here is one new kind.  Anybody know what this one is?

And look at the cool group of work horses and their huge babies.

It started sprinkling around 1:00 as we were walking into San Vicente.
Just as we sat down at a bar to have lunch it began really raining so we lucked out again.  Later we walked up the hill by the Church of Los Angeles to check in to the albergue El Galeon.

After we got all settled in we set out to explore the Castle but on the way Al's leg really started to hurt and when I looked at it I knew it was not a simple shin splint.  It was red , hot and swollen.  I remembered seeing a Red Cross on the way into town so we followed the signs to an emergency hospital that was fantastic.  They took him right in to see a Dr. who spoke a tiny bit of English but had a computer with a split screen so he could type in Spanish and we could read in English.  Gave him a shot and pills accepted his Scan card at no charge to us .  I think we were out of there in 20 mins.  Assured it's not cellulitius.   I hope he is right cause it sure looks like it to me.  The Dr. said he can walk tomorrow but to go easy.  I don't think the Dr. knows Al.
